Many years ago, when I (Dhiraj Arora) was in 9th or 10th standard, something happened that stayed in my heart forever.
One day, a friend of my father visited our home. They were talking in the other room, and I was quietly listening from a distance. In that casual conversation, I heard something that shaped my life, my purpose, and eventually — the birth of Interior Material Studio (IMS).
My father was telling his friend about the days when he worked at an electronics shop.
He said:
“Main wahan sirf saman nahi bechta tha… logon ko sahi material batata tha.
Iss wajah se log mujhe pasand karte the.
Kuchh log toh mujhe alag se consultation ke paise dete the — bas isliye ki main unhe sahi product bata doon.”
That simple line hit me deeply.
It wasn’t about selling.
It wasn’t about profit.
It was about guiding people honestly, creating value, and helping them make decisions that improved their life.
That day, I realized:
Respect and trust are earned when you help people choose what’s right for them.
That moment stayed inside me for years.
And when I finally became capable enough to start something of my own, I knew exactly what I wanted to build —
a place where people come not to buy material, but to understand it.
